Today I would like to share with you photos of a custom Nautical Diaper Cake that I made for a client who was hosting a baby shower.
Alyssa told me that she would like a nautical themed diaper cake using red and navy for the colors.
This little sailboat is something that I created myself using cardstock and chipboard. I loved how it came out. There is a little extra detail, right down to the button, that made this boat just pop and add some nice dimension to the cake.
The little bottles of baby care items were front and center in their own little spot too. They had to look just as special as the cake so they have their own little platform wth faux trim (to match the boat and the ribbon). It was finished off with red and white gingham ribbon.
How stinkin' cute is this little cake?!
Alyssa had some very kind comments and left me a glowing testimonial in the comment section. I thought I would share her testimonial here with the photos of the cake. So, here it is:
"As faith would have it I stumbled across Lynn and her craft booth at the Vermont flea market back in early July. I immediately fell in love with her style of work and her adorable children's products. A few days prior to the flea market I had committed myself to host a baby shower for a dear friend and had been doing some research on diaper cakes. Without seeing any diaper cakes on her display I decided to ask her if she had any experience in making them and if this was one of her many specialities. She mentioned that she had heard of them, but had never made one before. She mentioned she was up for the challenge, and I had no qualms of fears about trusting her to make one for the first time because after seeing her other work first hand, I knew she would do a fabulous job!!!
Lynn wrote me an email only days after the flea market and asked for any ideas, budget and my theme. Other than those small details I provided I left the decisions/ decorations up to her. I wanted Lynn to be able to incorporate her own personality and artistic talents into the cake because I saw them shining through at her booth at the flea market!
A few weeks later Lynn contacted me and we began finalizing the pieces to the diaper cake. There were not a ton of emails needed, she just knew exactly what I wanted. In between that time Lynn had even had a procedure which takes quite a bit of recovery time. She never once backed out of the commitment and probably even started working on the diaper cake a little sooner than she should have (From a nurse's point of view over here!!). Lynn was able to stay in my budget allowed and even helped expedite shipping and I received the package overnight!!! Her attention to detail showed through in every single aspect of the diaper cake! The diaper cake arrived in pristine condition and she even included hand written instructions on how to gently remove the cake from its packaging.
Lynn's creation was amazing, and we received numerous compliments at the baby shower. The mother to be was absolutely amazed at her work and was so thankful that Lynn had even thought to get size 2 diapers so she would not have to disassemble the cake too quickly!!! We will be using Lynn for all of our baby shower needs in the future. She is a warm spirited and kind person to work with! She is a phenomenal artist with amazing talents!!!!! I would recommend her work to everyone!!!"
Thanks so much, Alyssa! I am honored beyond belief to have met you, been able to create this cake for the baby shower you hosted and to receive such great compliments from you! It was a pleasure working with you too!
